Will Bad Champagne Do?
Absolutely not! Well, certainly not for the boys of Broadway Bites.
We asked on Twitter what people were having for their very last meal of 2011. Here's what a couple of them had to say:
@amysticwisdom tweeted "shrimp appetizers and thai food!"
@FlyiNgSoLox16 said "pizza!!! And breadsticks :)"
Neither are a bad way to end 2011!
We had an appetizer of endive, blue cheese, and pecans, then moved onto some creamed corn tacos with cilantro and green salsa, finishing the evening with a pan seared then broiled chicken sausage, all enjoyed with good friends. Andy cracked open a bottle of Moet he's been saving for 10 years and introduced us to a lovely Spanish tradition. Each person ate 12 purple grapes making a wish with every bite. We made some great wishes.
We also asked our followers what they had for their first meal of 2012.
@yercabbage had "homemade pancakes and sparkling juice." mmmmm...we can smell the syrup!
@musicgirl888 wrote "wow...all I had was a bagel." Hey! Nothin' wrong with a good bagel!!
@daniocallahan is "in the middle of cooking a pot of chili for the new year." Her secred is adding cocoa powder and coffee, two winners in our book.
@Dorothy1029 tweeted "My first meal was Ozoni! Ozoni is soup of rice cakes and vegetables :) Japanese New Year's food ;)" Thanks for sharing that tradition and with a wink and a smile. Hopefully we'll get a chance to try it in 2012 or perhaps even as our first meal of 2013.
We're really looking forward to 2012. Our resolution, to share the foods we love and the endless bounty of the New York culinary scene. Get excited for a much higher frequency of posting. We also have some other ideas coming to you down the pipeline. So sit back, relax, and let Broadway Bites wine and dine you from the theater to your own home. Happy New Year!

Sounds amahzing. I love the grape tradition. And the title is exactly what I would've used if I was writing a new year's post :P
