Coffee Talk: The Roasting Plant
First up: The Roasting Plant. I have stumbled on this little gem a few times before but really fell in love with it the afternoon of New Year's Eve.
The concept is unlike any other. As one walks in, he or she is immediately drawn to a wall of vacuum tubes filled with varieties of coffee from around the world. Bags are available to fill and take home, but much more interesting is the counter service.
I ordered a supercharged coffee, which in my mind is like a red-eye (a coffee topped with a shot of espresso), but a bit classier because the same bean is used in one brewing process rather than two. The beans were then vacuum sucked, similar to a drive-through bank, to the counter where my coffee was made. Others have described The Roasting Plant as the Willy Wonka Factory of Coffee. I agree. The coffee was tasty, the buzz was noticeable, and the execution was truly one of a kind. And speaking of coffee talk, I had a nice chat with my barista. Check back soon for more Coffee Talk.
